VIDEO PRODUCTION

"Building Artistic Communties, the History of the Pelican Bay Foundation"

As of the Summer of 2008 the Pelican Bay Foundation has decided to move ahead with a long over due project.

A documentary video based on the Foundation’s self published book “The History of the Pelican Bay Foundation”, coupled with our extensive media archives, that will explore the interrelationships of the people involved in the creation of the Pelican Bay Foundation and their involvement with other artistic communities in and around Seattle, Washington from 1969 to the present.

The video production will have a dual purpose, first and foremost, the documentation of the strengths and weaknesses of artistic social interactions in order to understand the dynamics involved in maintaining viable artistic communities. Secondly, the video production will serve as a vehicle to engage Seattle’s current artistic communities, in part by their involvement in the film, thus furthering our effort to build support for the Pelican Bay Foundation’s Capital Project for 2008-2011: Restoration, Artists’ Resource Center and Art Garden.

Our Capital Project: Restoration, Artists’ Resource Center and Art Garden, in Seattle’s South Park neighborhood, will greatly expand and diversify our general audience and outreach activities by creating a facility that will be a catalyst to broaden community understanding of contemporary art.
